Dear Friends,
We would like to thank all of our customers for making this a very successful summer season here at The Bearded Clam. It’s always enjoyable to be able to participate in your summer vacations or weekend excursions here at our beautiful Lake. Whether it’s sitting at the Tiki Bar listening to the band on Saturday Night, or a quick lunch and a refreshing beverage during a hot afternoon on the water, or lying by the pool on quiet Sunday , or maybe sitting on the dock watching the sunset, we hope you will always consider us part of your lake experience. The kid’s are back in school and Labor Day will be here before long. As Summer turns to Fall the lake gets very interesting! We would like to share with you something we have been doing for the last few years. On Sunday, September 19th we will be having our annual Customer Appreciation Bar-b-que & Picnic to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions for over 20 years. The Foundation traces its beginnings to one boy’s request to be a police officer, since then more than 198,000 wishes have been grant in the United States and throughout the world. The Missouri chapter has granted over 4000 wishes since its inception and looks to grant 275 wishes to area Children this year. With the average cost of a wish increasing to over $6500, every donation or charitable event is very important to meeting and fulfilling each child’s request. Okay, so here’s what we do and where we need your help. The Event includes a plethora of live entertainment, good food, along with a live auction. Our merchant brokers and distributors participate by donating everything from time, promotional materials, print media, food items, t-shirts, hats, umbrellas, coolers, golf-bags, etc... Our Bearded Clam Staff and Owners donate their time and tips along with 20% of any sales. The Restaurant is closed that day and events are held outside at our Tiki Bar. The picnic starts at 12:00pm on Sunday September 19th, admission is $10 which includes all you can eat picnic lunch (ribs, burgers, hotdogs and all the fixin’s). 100% of the proceeds, from the admission, auction, and raffle tickets go directly to Make-A-Wish. 7 bands will perform with a live auction between each set. The band schedule is already complete, this year we will have a kid’s band performing (visit our Facebook page for info).

We are still looking for an Auctioneer. If you are one of our current vendors I am including a list of items needed as soon as possible. If you are an area merchant and would like to donate items for the auction or set up a display booth for donations please contact us as soon as possible. We would like to thank everyone that has been part of this event the last two years, and looking forward to making this a tradition in our community. Last year we raised nearly $5000. The cost of a wish is over $6500, so your help is needed and appreciated.
